Bob's Stores Footwear & Apparel will be closing their Southington store after only 7 months of operation! The store opened in October at the RK Queen Plaza at 835 Queen Street, replacing Bed Bath & Beyond.
The official comment from a company spokesperson reads: 'As a result of challenging economic conditions, Bob’s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports have made the difficult decision to close five underperforming stores.
We are actively working to relocate as many employees as possible from these impacted locations to nearby Bob’s and Eastern Mountain Sports stores. These closings have been a challenging yet necessary step to ensure the longevity of the company. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of all our employees and will continue to serve our loyal customers who have known and loved our brands for decades.' The store is facing eviction from their store in Southington due to unpaid fees to the landlord according to a lawsuit filed by their landlord RK Centers. You can find that courtcase here: https://civilinquiry.jud.ct.gov/CaseDetail/PublicCaseDetail.aspx?DocketNo=HHDCV246185494S The store filed a WARN notice yesterday announcing the forthcoming layoff of over 150 employees at their Meriden warehouse due to an unexpected financial situation; the company is currently looking for new funding to continue operations. The chain has hired SB360 Capital Partners to run a ‘Total Inventory Blowout’ sale at all their Bob’s and EMS locations, all sales are final. SB360 is expected to run the store closing sales at these locations.
