Pickleball is coming soon to Simsbury! Dill Dinkers Pickleball will open their first CT location at Simsbury Commons in the former Homgoods store.
The new pickleball center will be over 23,000 square feet. This is the first CT location for the franchise. The franchisee plans to open 10 locations throughout the State in the next years. The center is expected to open later this summer. The renovation will cost roughly $1,000,000 to turn the retail space into the seven pickleball courts. The plaza has seen an increase in leasing activity including the opening of Apex Go Karting, the relocation of Bob's Stores Footwear & Apparel into the former Zoo Gym space, and the construction for Raising Cane's now underway!

This is great news. I'm happy to see something fun and active for the whole family. I'm wondering if the Commons has tried recruiting other active type businesses to move in? I'm thinking specifically of a rock climbing gym. It would be a tremendous addition as I feel a lot of families would like to get their kids and teens into the activity, but the nearest gym is glastonbury. I think it would attract a large amount of business with regular users as well as the birthday party folks who are always looking to branch out from the usual places. I also think a lot of parents would like to get back into climbing, but don't have time to commute to existing gyms. I know I myself and my husband would be thrilled to have that option.
