Geissler's Supermarket will acquire Simsbury’s Fitzgerald's Foods!
Geissler’s Supermarket will take over Fitzgerald’s Foods at 710 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury! The family owned supermarket will purchase the store from the DeVoe family in mid-June and will begin operation of the store shortly after. Geissler’s will retain all the existing employees including the DeVoes when they take over operation next month. This will be the store’s 8th location including South Windsor, East Windsor, Windsor, Agawam, Granby, Somers, and Bloomfield. Geissler’s started in 1923 in Broad Brook, CT as a small food store, the store expanded into neighboring towns. Fitzgerald’s had a similar origin, starting as a small store in 1946 after the owner got home from the war.
