Openings:
-Eastern Mountain Sports has started construction of their long-awaited Manchester return! The store will take over a large portion of the Bob's Stores space. The mall entrance to Bob's and future EMS is currently closed while they redo it with a new look! -Stateline Video Games is NOW OPEN in their new larger space on the second floor! The video game and collectable shop is now located on the second level next to Macy's, the store was formerly home to a Payless shoe store. -Passport Candies is coming soon to the former T-Mobile store near Barnes & Noble! The store will sell candies and snacks from all around the globe! The store will open on April 1st! Check out our sneak peek pictures above! -Hot Table Panini will be opening the doors of their Manchester location next month! The restaurant will be located at 1540 Pleasant Valley Road, inside The Plaza at Buckland Hills. The restaurant replaces Chosen1 Seafood. -Starbucks is now under construction at Evergreen Walk! Starbucks will feature an interior cofffee shop and a drive thru with a large queue. The coffee shop will share a building with a small retail tenant. The restaurant will be built next to PeoplesBank, behind Whole Foods! -Chipotle is now under construction at Evergreen Walk! Chipotle will feature their typical restaurant, but will include a ‘Chipot-lane’, a new mobile order pick up window. The building will have a large queue for the Chipotlane. The restaurant will be built next to PeoplesBank, behind Whole Foods! -Aroma Massage is coming soon to The Plaza at Buckland Hills. The massage center will occupy the nearly 2,300 square foot space next to Bank's Oreck, near Crumbl Cookies. The space was last home to Signature Smiles before they moved to Middle Turnpike. -Spice Venue is coming soon to Manchester! The restaurant will occupy the former Scottrade / TD Ameritrade space at 233 Buckland Road (next to Frank Pepe's & La-Z-Boy.) The restaurant will serve an Indian American cuisine. The owners of Spice Venue have locations in Hartford and Storrs, and previously owned India Kitchen in Manchester (in the former Roy Rogers, now Hartford Healthcare Cancer Center.) -Teriyaki Madness is planning to open a location in Manchester! The fast-casual Asian restaurant chain plans to open at 172 Deming Street, a small plaza home to Starbucks, Subway, AT&T, and UbreakIfix. The restaurant willoccupy the space formerly home to a liquor store. -Macy's Men, Furniture, Children is currently undergoing some changes! Toys R Us has relocated to the second floor, while the first floor has been completely taken over by the Macy's Furniture Gallery. I usually wouldn't report of department changes, but I received messages worrying about the store closing because of the empty space. -Macy's Home, Women, and Backstage is also undergoing some changes. Macy's Backstage has expanded into the main store, the store added roughly 50% to their footprint, now occupying part of the former bedwear section. These changes are a welcome sign that both stores are not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. Macy's announced a few weeks ago plans to close 150 stores over the next 3 years. -Crazy Hot Deals will be relocating their Manchester store to a larger space in the same plaza. The store will move from the former AC Moore space into the former Babies R Us/Dick's Warehouse Store space in the plaza. -Gong Cha at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills has introduced new drink specials, happy hours deals, and student deals! The fast-casual Mexican eatery will be located next door to Sweet Frogs! The restaurant should open in April. -MySalonSuite has started construction on their new salon suites at The Shops at Evergreen Walk! The salon suites will open next door to Carhartt in a former homestore. Look for them to open this spring! Closings: -Zillosh, a children's clothing store, will be closing their location at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills after nearly 2 years at the mall. The store is currently on sale. They are located next door to Bath & Body Works in the former Rue 21 space. -Soft Surroundings officially closed their store at The Shops at Evergreen Walk. The store was located next door to Munson's Chocolate. The store closed as part of their bankruptcy filing and shift to an online-only format. Buckland Area News: -Former Outback, a lot of people have been reaching out to me about the former Outback Steakhouse space. The space is currently still up for lease or redevelopment. The site is currently being used as a staging and storage area for the Residence Inn across the street. The hotel is currently ungoing a significant renovation. -A new pad site is up for lease at the Urban Air / Ashley Furniture Plaza at 220 Hale Road. The 1-acre pad site sits opposite the former Outback Steakhouse. The broker for the property included an image of the potential building that could be built, check it out in our photo slideshow above. The space is listed as "Lease Out' meaning the lease is awaiting the tenant's signature. Stay tuned for a new business! The former O'Live a Little space and the former Coldwater Creek space have 'Letter Of Intents' for new tenants as well. -The Manchester Food Truck Festival returns to The Shoppes at Buckland Hills this summer! The festival will feature food trucks, small business vendors, entertainment, and more! The event has been expanded for the full weekend! The event will take place on Friday June 21st from 5-10pm, Saturday June 22nd from 11-10pm, and Sunday June 23rd from 11-7pm!
