It's that time of the month again! Its time for the Buckland Business Brief!! This month was packed full of Buckland openings, a few Buckland closings, a local landmark's sudden closure, and some construction updates! Without further delay, lets get to this month's news!
Closing: -Toys R Us officially closed last month, the toy retailer liquidated the whole company. -Babies R Us officially closed last month, they closed along with Toys R Us. Opening: -Cost Plus World Market is nearing completion on their new store near AC Moore, no opening date has been announced. -Work has started on Burgerim, opening next door to Panera Bread later this year. -At Home is nearing completion, opening later this summer at The Shoppes at Burr Corners. -Joey Garlic's is nearing completion on their new restaurant near Texas Roadhouse. -Trader Joe's is nearing completion, interior work is nearing completion, with refrigeration units being installed recently. -Mint Rags has opened their location in the former Swarovski Crystal. Mint Rags sell a variety of clothing. Other Buckland News: -JC Penney has sold their Manchester Distribution Center to Winstanley Enterprises. -Fast Signs will be moving from their current location at The Plaza at Buckland Hills into a space next door to Petco, formerly Ultimate Fitness Superstore. Other Manchester News: -Johnson's Seafood Company will open in the former 'Smoke Not Just BBQ' Location. -Pastrami On Wry announced the restaurant has been sold. The business was listed for sale last month. -Catsup and Mustard was also placed up for sale, no word yet if this restaurant has sold. The restaurant was open for regular business this week. -The Lucky Taco has opened their new bar in the former Upholstery Shop next door. -Los Sarapes has begun renovation to expand their restaurant into the former Kathrine's Hair Design next door. -Blue Moon Hookah is nearing completion on their location on Broad Street. -Rite Aid has officially closed their Manchester location. The building is now for lease, despite Walgreens announcing their intentions to reopen it under the Walgreens banner. -41 Closets has officially closed their doors following a lengthy liquidation sale. -Subway on Spencer Street will not reopen following an order to close regarding the sprinkler system earlier this year. -Kenny's Restaurant on East Center Street is under new ownership. -Walia Ethiopian Restaurant will open in the former Ronak location on Main Street. -Upstyle has opened their new salon on Main Street, located in part of Silk City Antiques. -Calamar has began construction on their senior housing complex on Spencer Street. -Manchester has gotten their first 'Lime Bike' part of a bike sharing service. The bike is located on Main Street near the Mary Cheney Library. -Quite a few local restaurant are for sale in Manchester. Take a look here. Vernon News: -KFC is currently undergoing a major remodel, the interior is closed during the remodel while the drive thru is still open. -Belle Anne Fitness has opened in Vernon, the fitness studio opened in the former 'Pole' fitness location. -Work is well underway for Wendy's, anticipate a late fall opening. -A housing complex is now under construction behind Bardin Insurance. -Pho Ly has reopened their restaurant, they closed briefly over the Fourth of July for window replacement. -Bianna's Pizza has opened, opening in the former Boston Bakery location on Ward Street. -The Beauty Mark has opened their Vernon salon, located next to Tractor Supply Co. -Spark VR is moving their Vernon location.
