Demolition work has officially began at Silver Lane Plaza in East Hartford! An excavator started to dismantle the building this morning. The abandoned plaza was once home to numerous department stores in it's heyday.
The demolition of the main building is planned to wrap up in May. The town is working with remaining tenants in the two small plaza for relocation, with their demolition planned for later this year. The land will be prepped and cleared to turn over to the developer by the end of the year. “This is truly a monumental moment for East Hartford to finally see some progress on this project,” Mayor Connor Martin said. A number of projects are now underway in East Hartford including new housing, commercial, and manufacturing centers!
