By Jean-Luc Dube CaraBean has closed their doors in Watertown. The cafe was located at 720 Thomaston Road in Watertown. The cafe moved into the former Pasta Heaven space in 2024, moving from their previous location at 49 DeForest Street. The cafe served bagels, egg sandwiches, coffee, tea, juice, and more.
The owner cites rising costs, early mornings/late nights, and a her previous battle with cancer as reasons for the closure. Baked and Brewed will be reopening in Watertown in a new location; and will continue to accept CaraBean gift cards. The owner said in a farewell statement (in part): "It’s been a long time coming for this goodbye but I have to do this. There isn’t anything I hate more than saying goodbye. But yes, it’s time to put CaraBean to rest. I have tried to keep her open way longer than I should have. With the rising costs of everything, the early mornings and long nights, I have become completely overwhelmed. And after battling cancer, I was left with a tired feeling that I just can’t shake (my cancer warriors all know exactly what I’m talking about). Being sick is no joke! We have made soooo many friends that have become family to us. And that’s the hardest part about this. We wouldn’t be what we were without you. We truly love you all. So while I step back, the young ladies that have worked so hard beside me will be stepping up and taking over. So Baked & Brewed will make its re-emergence in town within a week. The first three customers to find where they are located, will get free breakfast for a week. Oh, and yes, CaraBean gift cards will be honored!"
