Jimmies of Savin Rock will be permanently closing their doors on December 7th.
The longtime restaurant is located at 5 Rock Street in West Haven. The owners will be retiring, bringing an end to a 100 year legacy in West Haven. Their final day of operations will be December 7th. The announcement states: "For 100 years, Jimmies of Savin Rock has been a part of this community’s story. From summer nights on the shoreline to family traditions passed down through generations. Today, we’re sharing the bittersweet news that Jimmies will be closing our doors on December 7th, officially bringing this 100 year chapter to a close as we prepare to retire. Words can’t fully express how grateful we are for your loyalty, your laughter, your stories, and the memories you’ve made here with us over the decades. To every family that made us part of their weekends, celebrations, and everyday moments, thank you for making Jimmies more than just a restaurant. As we prepare to say goodbye, we invite you to come out and dine with us one last time. Join us for one more meal, one more memory, and one last bite at Jimmies of Savin Rock. Thank you all for 100 years of Jimmies!" The owners floated the idea of redeveloping the restaurant earlier this year. A new restaurant and banquet hall is coming soon near Jimmies, dubbed The Kelsey, which will replace the Savin Rock Conference Center. New England Brewing Co. previously planned a location for The Kelsey site; but neighbors (including Jimmies) ultimately pushed for the plans to be dropped.

Born 82 years ago in New Haven...Summers at West Haven with grandparents, Aunt Ruth, Uncle Al, Aunt Elsie and Uncle and parents and cousins sadly gone from the world that we know will be now joined by Jimmies of Savin Rock. When places like Jimnies close we call the city and all who know New Haven GRIEVE. And yet the City of West Haven and the winder business and elected and appointed officials DO NOTHiNG to

Auf Wiedersehen ! The Grease & Cooking Oil Recycling businesses will certainly miss you. On a more serious note, Local politics can surely influence business investment & visa versa. Perhaps further future development along Capt.Thomas Blvd, Ocean Ave, & the1st Ave & Water St ongoing debacle can manage to escape corruption. The average WH taxpayer hopes that anything developed on those sites won't be eyesores, won't pollute with excessive lighting, noise, trash, won't be more than 3 stories high, & won't dump more traffic on roads unprepared for more volume. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again.
