Electric Boat has purchased the former Sears building at the Crystal Mall in Waterford, the final piece of the mall.
The sale of the Sears parcel means the entire complex is now owned by General Dynamics Electric Boat. The submarine manufacturer purchased the majority of the mall last month for $25 million; and purchased the former Macy's building earlier this year. Electric Boat plans to convert the mall into new office and laboratory space to support their operations in nearby Groton. The facility is expected to open in mid-2027; to be home to between 3,000 and 5,000 employees. The mall will remain open through the holiday season and into 2026. including a visit from Santa. Electric Boat is working with existing tenants on their plan for the future including relocation.
