Old Navy will be opening a new store format at Natick Mall!
The new format is called 'Old Navy Sport', with plans to open on the mall's second floor between The North Face and Everything But Water. The store is now listed as 'Coming Soon' on the mall's website. This appears to be the first of its kind by Old Navy. The shop is anticipated to carry athleisure clothing but at a lower price point than Old Navy's sibling brand Athleta. Old Navy recently launched new athletic apparel lines including 'StudioSmooth' and 'PowerSoft' to compete directly with Fabletics & Lululemon brands at a lower cost. A fourth Ross Dress for Less is coming to Massachusetts!
The discount retailer has leased roughly 20,300 square feet at Wareham Crossing at 2421 Cranberry Highway in Wareham! Ross Dress for Less is planned to start construction in early 2027 and plans to open in late spring 2027. Ross Dress for Less is a quickly growing discount retailer, similar to TJ Maxx and Marshalls. They currently have no locations in Massachusetts though they will open new locations in Chicopee and West Springfield this fall and will open a new location in Danvers later this year. Ross has been steadily working their way up the East Coast, opening new stores in Connecticut and New York over the past year. The discount retailer offers the best bargains on the latest trends in clothing, shoes, home decor and more! Stay tuned for more information on their opening! The chain will open additional Massachusetts locations in Chicopee, West Springfield, and Danvers; with more being eyed. Look for them to open in late spring 2027! 
Aldi has set its opening date in Lynn!
The new grocery store will officially open its doors on August 6th, but shoppers can stop in starting on August 5th for their preview day / soft opening! The store is located at 126 Boston Street in Lynn, Mass; replacing the former Big Lots store. We broke the news last year about Aldi's plans for a new Lynn location. GRAND OPENING GIVEAWAY: On August 6th the first 200 customers will receive a bag of ALDI goodies including a Golden Ticket that could be worth up to $100. An ALDI employee will be handing out a free eco-friendly bag stuffed with ALDI products! Line up early to score your bag of goodies and golden ticket! The discount grocery store sells a large variety of good at low prices, but does not offer a full-service butchery, bakery, or deli; opting for pre-package products instead. Stop in and shop starting on August 5th & 6th! Some updates for the Holyoke Mall! American Eagle has reopened its location at Holyoke Mall! The shop has been thoroughly renovated to the newest prototype of the chain. Check out their new look on the mall’s lower level. Sister brand Aerie is expect to renovate their space next. A new food tenant is coming soon to the second level of the mall! It’s unclear what the name of the new restaurant will be, but the former Master Cuts space has been renovated with a new service counter. Stay tuned for more information once they open. Construction work continues on the mall’s food court. Dust barricades have been installed over the Sbarro and Charley’s Philly Steaks spaces. Currently the only food vendor open are Onezo & Smoothie Island in the food court. It looks like Terra Nossa will not be returning once the food court reopens, they have removed their signage from their space. These additions join other previously announced future tenants including a new larger Pandora store and Dick’s House of Sports. The mall also recently welcomed Exotic Snack Guys to the second level. SPRINGFIELD SCOOP: New Springfield Crossing development at Eastfield Mall site listed for sale7/11/2026 The new 'Springfield Crossing' development on the site of the former Eastfield Mall has been listed for sale by Atlatic Retail! No asking price was provided with the listing. The new open-air shopping center began its phased opening last December with the opening of BJ's Wholesale. The space features over 203,000 square feet of retail space. The site is located at 1655 Boston Road. Notable tenants in the development include BJ's Wholesale, Hobby Lobby, Petsmart, Target (opening on 07/26), La-Z-Boy, Chick-Fil-A, Skechers, Carter's, Chase Bank, and Chipotle. Burlington is coming soon to Medford!
The national discount chain is coming soon to Fellsway Plaza in Medford! The retailer will be located at 630 Fellsway in Medford, the 22,478 square foot space formerly occupied by Lowes Outlet in the plaza. The retailer, previously known as Burlington Coat Factory, features high-quality, brand-name clothing, home decor, and more at unbeatable prices. The store is similar to TJ Maxx and Marshalls. No opening timeline has been announced for their opening. 
Target has set the opening date for its new Springfield location!
The new department store will officially open its doors on July 26th according to a banner mounted on the new building. The store is located at 1655 Boston Road, the site of the former Eastfield Mall. Target joins a lineup of new business at the development including Hobby Lobby, BJ’s Wholesale Club, La-Z-Boy, Skechers, Chick-Fil-A, Chipotle, and many more. Stop in and shop on July 26th! Their charm bracelets offer a customizable accessory that can be added to with charms for life milestones. -American Eagle is temporarily closed while its store receives an extensive renovation. The new prototype store will feature a new look with dark blue color and wood grains. The retailer has been remodeling older locations with plans to refresh their entire fleet of stores within the next few years. The mall's Aerie location is also expected to receive an extensive remodel in the coming months. -Chick-Fil-A has opened a pop-up location inside of the mall! The new temporary stand is located on the mall's upper level in center court near the glass elevator. We are officially on 'Spirit Halloween Watch' in Massachusetts!
'Coming Soon' signs for the temporary Halloween retailer are going up at vacant retail spaces around the country! We are hearing of a few Massachusetts locations that now have signs announcing the seasonal retailer’s return. Spirit Halloween stores usually open in late summer, sometimes at the tail-end of July and remain open through the first days of November. Have you seen any Spirit Halloween signs posted in Massachusetts yet? Comment below! Spirit Christmas is also anticipated to return this year! O'Reilly Auto Parts is eyeing a new location in Springfield!
The retailer has leased the former Casa Vallarta Mexican Restaurant space at Five Town Plaza for a new location. The space is located at 300 Cooley Street in Springfield. This would be the third Springfield location for O'Reilly Auto Parts with other locations on State Street and Liberty Street. The new store is expected to be roughly 7,500 square feet of space. It's unclear whether they will reuse the existing building or demolish and rebuild. The plaza has seen an increase in occupancy in the last year with new tenants constantly popping up. Recent additions including Ollie's Bargain Outlet, The Fresh Monkee, Hot Worx, Urgent Vet, and others. 
Nothing Bundt Cakes is planning a new bakery at Springfield Crossing!
The new bakery chain would be located at 1655 Boston Post in Springfield, part of the new Springfield Crossing development on the site of the Eastfield Mall. Nothing Bundt Cakes would be located in the new strip plaza next to BJ's, joining Playa Bowls and other tenants. Construction is planned to begin this summer with an opening later this year. Nothing Bundt Cakes is a growing chain of bakeries with other MA locations in Braintree, Burlington, Methuen, Newton, Peabody, Saugus, and Shrewsbury. The shop sells a variety of Bundt cakes, Bundtlets (cupcake sized), Bundtinis (bite sized), Gluten Free Bundt Cakes, and much more! A new coffee shop is coming to West Springfield!
Yemerica Coffee is coming soon to 1115 Riverdale Street in West Springfield, part of the Riversale Center. The new coffee shop will open in late summer/early fall between Table & Vine and Hot Table Panini! The new cafe is a blend of tradition Yemeni and American coffee cultures. The menu consists of typical coffee options like Americano, pour over, matcha, cortado, cappuccino, refreshers, and more. The menu also has a number of Yemeni coffee options like Royal Arabic Coffee, Aryasi, Adani chai, Mofowar, Qisher, Baidhani, and Moroccan Tea. The cafe also features late night hours, perfect for the night owls looking for a caffeine fix! This will be the fourth Yemerica Coffee location, the original opened in West Hartford in early 2025. They have locations coming soon in Orange CT and Southington CT; with even more on the horizon as well. Stay tuned for those announcements. 
Bummer about Holyoke Mall's food court still being mostly closed? A new quick-service restaurant is now open at Holyoke Mall for a limited time! Chick-Fil-A has opened a new pop-up eatery at Holyoke Mall at Ingleside, located in the mall's center court on the upper level. Find them next to the glass elevator. The pop-up will run now through August 31st featuring their most popular items including Original Chicken Sandwiches, Spicy Chicken Sandwiches, Mac & Cheese, Sweet Tea, and more!
Check them out from now until August 31st! The mall's food court only has 2 options currently open, including Onezo & Smoothie Island, after a fire caused damage earlier this year. The remaining food court tenants are expected to reopen later this summer. 
J7 Adventureland is coming soon to Patriot Place in Foxborough! The indoor playground will occupy 15,000 square feet of space next to Wormtown Brewing according to a lease plan from Blackline Retail Group, the leasing broker. The space was last occupied by Olympia Sports, which closed in 2022. This will be the second location for J7 Adventureland with the first opening in the Burlington Mall in 2025. J7 Adventureland will feature 'The Ultimate Play Struture', ball pits, ball cannons, slides, party rooms, an arcade, kid-sized ninja course, obstacles, and much more. The indoor kid's complex will feature themed day with Toddler Play Mondays, Pajama Play Tuesdays, Sensory Play Wednesdays, and Glow Night Thursdays. The national discount retailer will officially open a new location at 890 Suffield Street in Agawam on May 7th from 9am to 9pm. The new retailer will occupy the former American Freight space at Southgate Shopping Plaza! The retailer known for their deep discounts and closeouts. Ollie's buys overstock, slightly imperfect, and leftover merchandise from the big retailers and suppliers. The store carries dry grocery, books, decorations, limited furniture, flooring, hardware, home decor, and other home goods. This will be Ollie's eighth Massachusetts location behind existing stores in Springfield, Plymouth, Seekonk, Worcester, Pittsfield, New Bedford, and Fitchburg. Barnes & Noble and TJ Maxx are coming soon to Littleton in The Point shopping plaza!
Barnes & Noble is setting up shop at 350 Constitution Avenue in Littleton, the former Party City store space at The Point. The new store will occupy roughly 19,280 square feet, building permits applications were recently submitted for the landlord's scope of work. Barnes & Noble is the nation’s largest bookstore chain with over 650 locations across the country including 16 stores in Massachusetts. TJ Maxx is coming soon to 360 Constitution Avenue in Littleton! Several small inline retail spaces next door to the new Barnes & Noble are being combined for the discount retailer. No word yet on how the new location will affect the location in nearby Acton. TJ Maxx is one of the country's leading discount retailers where designer brands and low prices come together. They have something for everyone at prices your wallet will love. No timeline has been announced for either store's opening. 
Wren Kitchens has pulled out of the US market closing all showrooms and design studios.
The retailer operated large format showrooms around the Northeast alongside smaller design studios inside Home Depot stores. A note on their website announced the closure of all US locations, it reads: “We regret to inform you that our showrooms and studios are now closed” along with a form for further assistance. Wren had design studios located inside 2 Massachusetts Home Depot stores including Chicopee and Springfield. The store offered custom made kitchens with flexibility on almost everything include style, colors, hardware, and finishes. The British retailer expanded into the US in 2020. It’s unclear the status of existing orders, whether products will still be delivered or refunds given. Whether warranties will be honored is still unclear as well.

The new adventure park will be located at 10 Newbury Street in Danvers, the former Big Lots store at Danvers Crossing. They are anticipated to open in late 2026. According to a press release, the new Urban Air Danvers, MA location will deliver top-tier service and a safe, affordable environment that caters to all ages, seven days a week. Spanning over 30,000 square feet, this state-of-the-art adventure park will feature a wide array of attractions including Adventure Slides, Sky Rider Indoor Zipline, Air Court, Climbing Walls, Dodgeball, Dunk Ball, Warrior Course, and more. "We know families are looking for ways to spend more time together and as the premier destination for family fun and adventure, we're thrilled to bring our park experience to even more families in Danvers, MA," said Urban Air Brand President Tim Sharp.
