The new library has gone vertical! Construction has now started on the structure of the library; with columns and beams soaring above Main Street!
The new 76,000 square foot, three-story structure includes plenty of space for Manchester’s collection of books and materials, engaging areas for children of all ages, interactive teen space, makerspace & audio-visual studio, private study, meeting rooms, and a large community meeting space. A opening in the second half of 2026 is expect with this timeline. This library will replace the Mary Cheney. The future use of Mary Cheney Library has not been officially determined or announced; but the building will remain in place. The library will cost about $50 million. Made up of $2.5 million in ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding, $39 million in bond funding, $5 million from the US Treasury Capital Projects Fund, and $3.5 million for the State's Community Investment Fund.
