The Veterinary Clinic will be moving from their longtime South Windsor home to 200 Sheldon Road in Manchester! The move is expected to take place in early to mid April. The Veterinarian is currently located at 69 Oakland Street in South Windsor. The move allows them to continue delivering the high-quality care you expect in an updated and improved space! The clinic offers a variety of services for pets including puppy & kitten care, dental, micro-chipping, diagnostic imaging, wellness exams, pain management, and much more. Shogun X Sushi is gearing up for their opening in Manchester!
Shogun X Sushi will be located at 1483 Pleasant Valley Road in Manchester! The new restaurant will feature a conveyor belt system delivering sushi to tables throughout the restaurant. The restaurant is expected to open in March according to people close to the restaurant. Opening date is pending local inspection approval. Conveyor belt sushi restaurants are big in Japan; and locations are starting to pop up around Connecticut including in Oxford, New Haven, Fairfield, and others. Sushi is prepared and loaded onto the conveyor belts, hungry patrons can grab what they would like off the conveyor belt. Look for them to open in March! The jewelry store chain has filed for building permits to open a new store at The Shops at Evergreen Walk. Pandora would occupy the former Lux Bond & Green space next to Brighton Collectibles. Construction is expected to cost around $100,000 according to the building permit. Pandora is a Danish jeweler and retailer known for their customizable charm bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces. Their charm bracelets offer a customizable accessory that can be added to with charms for life milestones. Stay tuned for more information as construction gets underway! The chain has official Pandora locations at Westfarms, Danbury Fair, Trumbull Mall, The SoNo Collection, and has numerous authorized-seller jewelry stores through CT. Casa Mezcal is NOW OPEN at 867 Main Street in Manchester, the former Main Course space. The eatery opened their doors earlier today. The restaurant is an extension of a Toronto-based restaurant. Casa Mezcal features modern Mexican cuisine, Mezcal culture, and a lively atmosphere. The new fast-casual Mexican restaurant will be located at The Shops at Evergreen Walk, in the former Moe's Southwest Grill space near Carter's. The renovation is expected to cost over $288,000 according to the filing. Qdoba is expected to open this summer, adding a new fast-casual option to Evergreen Walk's lineup. Qdoba is similar to Moe's; featuring customizable Mexican cuisine including grain bowls, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and more. They also offer a 'Create-your-own' salad option with your choice of proteins, veggies, toppings, and dressing. Toys R Us will be remaining open at The Shops at Evergreen Walk!
The toy store was set to be a seasonal pop-up for the holidays and close at the end of January, but according to staff they have extended their time! They will remain open for the foreseeable future. The store is located in the former Banana Republic space at The Shops at Evergreen Walk. A new burger restaurant is planning a location at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills!
Woosmash is eyeing a new location at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills. The new smash-burger restaurant would open in the mall's food court according to recent business filings, replacing the recently closed Burger Class space. The restaurant serves their signature 'Woosmash' burgers with varieties like the Woo Signature, Woo-Ha, Wooshroom, Woo Classic, Chili Blast, Melting Master, Bulgogi Smash and many more. You'll also find chicken sandwiches, tenders, and wings on their menu. Their sides line-up features some amazing options like corn ribs, Woo's Chili, tater tots, onion rings, truffle fries, and others. The restaurant has a single location open in Verona NJ that opened in summer 2025. Woosmash plans to quickly expand with franchising. Stay tuned for more updates! Sakura Haven is coming soon to 171 Spencer Street in Manchester, the former ‘The Break Room’ billiards hall. The new venue plans to feature an anime theme with cosplay, a live DJ, karaoke, and other themed entertainment events. Signs were recently installed at their new space. Sakura Haven has been operating as a pop-up at various bar around Connecticut. The new venue is their first physical location. The bank branch was located inside ShopRite at 214 Spencer Street in Manchester. The branch closed at the end of December. Finex opened inside the grocery store in 2015. The new Latin eatery is located at 394 Middle Turnpike West in Manchester; part of the Manchester Parkade shopping center. The business opened on Wednesday, January 28th. The new restaurant serves a variety of Latin cuisine including Mofongo, sandwiches (including Tripleta, Cuban, Patacon, and others), empanadas, soups, salads, fresh juices, and much more! A new 203-unit age restricted (senior housing) residential community received a zone change to 'Buckland Gateway South' and Master Development Plan approval for roughly 47 acres of land (in South Windsor) behind The Plaza at Buckland Hills. Plans call for construction of 203 carriage-style homes spread across the site including amenitities like a clubhouse, pools, and pickleball or tennis courts. Open space and trails are also planned with pedestrian connections to The Plaza at Buckland Hills and The Shops at Evergreen Walk. Notable absent from the project is a vehicular connection to The Plaza at Buckland Hills. According to plans submitted to the town, there will be no vehicular access from or to the large shopping plaza; the development will be accessed through new dedicated connections to Wheeler Road and Pleasant Valley Road. These approvals do not mean construction is imminent. Property owner, Downeast LLC, must now find a development partner to build it; there are also more approvals needed from the town before any construction can begin. A 10 acre parcel of land next to Hampton Inn will remain zoned as 'Designed Commerical Zone' for future commercial development. Carhartt is taking a brief break while they remodel!
The Carhartt store at The Shops at Evergreen Walk has temporarily closed for a brief renovations project. The store is expected to reopen later this week (according to signs on the door) with a brand new look. The store opened in 2015 at the outdoor mall. The store sells work wear including denim, footwear, accessories, and much more. Carhartt is just the latest tenant to remodel at Evergreen Walk. Red Heat Tavern completed a renovation late last year; while Pottery Barn & William Sonoma gave their exterior a much needed facelift last fall. A speakeasy and lounge is coming soon in Manchester!
The Gypsy Speakeasy & Lounge is coming soon at 623 Main Street in Manchester; right below The Pearl Sportsbar! The new speakeasy will feature a cozy lounge accessed through a hidden back entrance. Miniso Outlet Store will be closing at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills!
The store opened during the holiday season as a temporary pop-up store. The store sold pop-culture items priced between $1-$15. All remaining stock is now 50% off during their closing sale through the end of January. Lost Realm Craft Company is planned for the former WinSupply space at 176 Hartford Road in Manchester!The new brewery and pub was founded by Josh Morano and Sal DiBacco. The new brewery describes itself: “Born from a long journey through a winding maze of challenges, Lost Realm is built around craft beer, cocktails, food, and the spaces where people gather. It’s a place shaped by creativity, community, and the belief that the best experiences are forged along winding paths. The kitchenware and gourmet food store was originally planned to close permanently on New Year’s Eve. The store received a late restock of products before Christmas. The store is located at 400 Evergreen Way in South Windsor, part of The Shops at Evergreen Walk. Stop by and shop the last deals before they close. Popeyes has officially opened their long awaited location in East Hartford!
The chicken restaurant is NOW OPEN at 317 Main Street in East Hartford; next to Wendy’s. On their menu you will find fried chicken, Mac & Cheese, fries, sides, sandwiches, and much more! This is Popeyes first East Hartford location, with other area locations in Manchester, Hartford, and Wethersfield. The restaurant had been under construction for over a year before this long awaited opening. Check them out. It’s official! As of today, Hartford Healthcare has completed its purchase of Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General!
Both hospitals are now part of the Hartford Healthcare network of 9 hospitals, dozens of Urgent Care centers, and outpatient treatment centers. In addition to the $86.1 million purchase of the hospital, Hartford HealthCare will invest another $225.7 million over the next three years to improve care and services across the region. Improvements include: -Bringing Hartford HealthCare’s institute model to the communities served by the hospital, with expertise for specialty services (behavioral health, cancer, digestive health, heart and vascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, urology and kidney) -Hiring new doctors, nurses and care team members to bring much-needed services, including cancer care services and advanced imaging, to the local community and reduce gaps in care -Investing in vascular and orthopedic surgical services and creating an inpatient rehabilitation unit -Offering outpatient and ambulatory care options for easier access to services -Improving inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care, including reopening a 30-bed unit at the Rockville campus -Offering 24/7 virtual primary care, available every day of the year “Our goal is simple: to make sure patients can get excellent care close to home,” said Jeffrey A. -Benson's Bagels is wrapping up their construction at 1014 Sullivan Avenue! The restaurant's construction is nearly complete; with their signage recently being installed. Look for them to open in early 2026. -The Wicked Press is coming soon to 948 Sullivan Avenue! The new bookstore and coffee shop recently filed for their building permits to transform the former Happy Nutrition space into their new home! Look for them to open at the end of February! -Three Amigo's Mexican Taqueria is still planning to open at 942 Sullivan Avenue. The Mexican restaurant has been under construction in the space since late 2024. No exact opening timeline has been announced. -Qdoba Mexican Eats is coming soon to The Shops at Evergreen Walk. The eatery will occupy the former Moe's Southwest Grill space; the menu is very similar to Moe's as well. Qdoba looks to open this summer. -Sally's Apizza is still coming soon to 5 Cedar Avenue; part of Evergreen Walk. Sally's recently filed for building permits for their interior build-out of the shell space. Look for them to open sometime in 2026. -Chester's Fried Chicken will be opening inside the soon-to-open Phillips 66 Gas Station at 249 Oakland Road. The restaurant has a location inside the Pride Gas Station on Route 5 as well. These restaurants join the new additions from 2025 including Domino's, Chipotle, Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Hartford Baking Company, and others. The Shops at Evergreen Walk has been sold!
The outdoor shopping district was sold to a joint venture of Brand Street Properties & Barings from previous owner PGIM (Prudential Global Investment Management) for $98.25 million. The shopping center will continue to be managed by Brand Street (the management company for the past 5 years) and by Barings (a global asset manangement firm.) The Shops at Evergreen Walk has been successful in reinvigorating their shopping center. In recent years they have attracted new best-in-class tenants including Lululemon, Whole Foods Market, Gap Factory, J Crew Factory, Nike, Bluemercury, and many more. New tenants are coming soon including Stretchlab and Qdoba Mexican Eats. A new cafe is coming to Manchester!
Vaz House Cafe is coming soon to 151 Middle Turnpike West in Manchester, part of the former Vic's Pizza space. The other half of the pizza shop is now occupied by Naach Dance Studio. The new neighborhood cafe will be rooted is community. They will be offering quality coffee and tea in a calm, intentional space designed for people stopping in between moments. They are focused on creating an easy, welcoming daytime café experience for the community. Look for them to open in 2026! The development received site plan approval (along with a special exception and erosion control approval) at the December 8th Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. The new development is expected to cost roughly $80 million, a significant investment into Manchester. Plans include 232 apartments spread across four 48-unit buildings and four 10-unit buildings. Separate garage parking will be provided adajcent to the 48 unit buildings. Buildings would be comprised of a mix of studio, 1 bedroom, and two bedroom units. Plans also include a club house with a pool, 2 pickleball courts, and a dog park. A connection to the Cheney Rail Trail is also depicted in the plans. Two new commercial buildings are included in the plans on Broad Street. The buildings would each measure up to 6,500 square feet; butting up to Broad Street with parking in the rear. The developer behind the complex is APH Manchester, LLC also known as Anthony Properties. Construction could start this spring! |
