LOCAL GEM: Olde Mistick Village

A new addition to our new 'Local Gems' series!

I took a trip down to Olde Mistick Village at 27 Coogan Boulevard in Mystic, CT. The village is made up of local shops and restaurants in the style of a New England village.

The site was originally planned to be home to a shopping mall when Martin Olson purchased the land in 1963; but eventually the 1720s-style village was built on the land and became a destination for locals and tourist alike. The village is located next door to Mystic Aquarium and a short ride from Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort Casino.

The village is home to many unique and small businesses including an Alice in Wonderland theme coffee shop, tea shop, ghost-themed bookstore, magic wand store, gift shops, general stores, and many more.

-Mango's Wood-Fired Pizza Co., Pizza and other Italian favorites

The outdoor village was the setting for a Hallmark movie in 2023. 'Mystic Christmas' was filmed at the aquarium and Olde Mistick Village in May of 2023 and aired in October of 2023. 'A Very Nutty Christmas' was also filmed at the village in 2018, starring Melissa Joan Hart.
