Apple has permanently closed its location inside the Trumbull Mall.
The store permanently closed earlier this week alongside with 2 other locations in the United States. Apple was located on the mall's second level near The Cheesecake Factory. The tech giant now has 6 CT locations remaining after the Trumbull closure including Danbury, Farmington (Westfarms), Greenwich, New Haven, Norwalk, and South Windsor. "At Apple, we are constantly striving to deliver exceptional service and great experiences for our customers. As we continue investing to expand and enhance our retail stores and offerings worldwide, we remain deliberate about evaluating our existing locations to ensure that we can meet our customers' needs in the best way. Following the departure of several retailers and declining conditions at Trumbull Mall, the Shops at North County, and Towson Town Center, we've made the difficult decision to close our stores at these locations. Our team members at Trumbull and North County will continue their roles at nearby Apple Retail stores. Towson employees will be eligible to apply for open roles at Apple in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. We look forward to continuing to serve customers at nearby stores and on Apple.com, the Apple Store app, and at Apple Authorized Resellers and Service Providers throughout the states." -Official Statement from Apple on the closures The store's permanent closure is another major loss for Trumbull Mall. The mall has been struggling in recent years, losing big name tenants like Ulta Beauty, Sephora, Michael Kors, Forever 21, and many others. The SoNo Collection has a new management company.
Trigild IVL has been named the court-appointed receiver for the mall with their sister company, Centennial Real Estate Management taking over day-to-day management and leasing from GGP (formerly Brookfield Retail Properties.) Centennial Real Estate Management is the manager of Connecticut Post Mall and is the current court-appointed receiver to Trumbull Mall and Providence Place. The mall is currently going through foreclosure court proceedings after the owner defaulted on its loan payments. The total amount remaining on the original loan is $136,000,000. The SoNo Collection will remain open and fully operational throughout the transition to Centennial, continuing to deliver a seamless experience for guests and retail partners alike.
