Next Door has announced they will be permanently closing on April 6th at the end of service. The pizza place is located at 175 Humphrey Street in New Haven.
The pizza place originally opened in 2018 in the former Humphrey's restaurant space. The pizza shop was an offshoot of Big Green Truck Pizza, CT's first mobile brick oven pizza established in 2003. Big Green Truck Pizza was sold to new owners in 2020. Next Door offers great New Haven style apizza with an eclectic menu that serves up something for everyone including tasty gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. The restaurant was set to be sold to Israel Lopez according to a January article in the Hartford Courant. At the time of the article, Doug Coffin (owner) planned to retire. It appears the planned deal was never finalized. The deal was scuttled by a last minute rent increase by the landlord according to a reputable source.
