Barnes & Noble has set the opening dates for their 3 new Connecticut locations!
-The new Barnes & Noble location at High Ridge Center in Stamford will open on May 14th according to a statement from corporate. The store will be located at 1145 High Ridge Road, a two-story space once home to DSW. The new store will feature a cafe and a wide selection of books! -The new Southbury branch of the bookstore chain will open on June 4th at Southbury Green (775 Main Street.) The store will occupy 9,500 square feet of space formerly occupied by GAP in the shopping center. The store is not expected to feature an in-store cafe. -Barnes & Noble will open their new Cheshire location on September 17th at The Shops at Stonebride! The store will be roughly 18,000 square feet and feature an in-store cafe. The bookstore will join Whole Foods, Saybrook Home, and TJ Maxx as anchors in the new development. These new locations join Barnes & Noble's other 13 stores in Connecticut. The chain opened a new location in Meriden last year, only occupying around 8,900 square feet of space in an old Pier 1 store. The chain is expanding nationwide after an increase in interest in physical books. A number of new independent bookstores have opened in Connecticut in recent years including Folklore & Fable Booksellers in Colchester, Montgomery and Taggert Bookshop in Chester, River Bend Bookshop in West Hartford, Obodo Serendipity Books in Stratford, and many others.
