By Jean-Luc Dube Berkins on Main in Hartford and Berkins Blend Cafe in Glastonbury will be closing their doors as one of the owners plots their retirement.
Both cafes are owned by Doug Barber and Andrea Hawkins. The cafes will close their doors as Doug prepares for retirement. Andrea will continue her consultant business, Leading Culture Solutions. The coffee shops offer espresso drinks, fine teas, fresh bakery items soup and an assortment of conveniently packaged foods to enjoy at the cafes or "to-go". Berkins on Main at 500 Main Street in Hartford will close on 05/28 according to a statement from the owner. The cafe is located inside inside the recently reopened Hartford Public Library. They opened in the library in January 2024, closing their nearby Oak Street location shortly after. Berkins Blend Cafe at 1003 Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury will close their doors on June 19th according to a statement from the owner. This location opened in October of 2015.
