Construction/Demolition could begin on the redevelopment of the Enfield Square Mall this spring!
Woodsonia (the developer) received a crucial approval from the Planning & Zoning Commission at their Thursday meeting; changing the zoning of the site from Business Regional (BR) to Special Development District (SDD). More approvals are still required before the development can fully come to fruition. Plans for the new $250 million 'Enfield Marketplace' development would feature 465 resident units, a new large commercial building, 10 smaller outparcel commercial sites, and possibly a hotel. The existing Target store will remain, with the entrance modified to be a standalone store. The developer said that negotiations are underway with new and existing businesses for spaces in the new development. Though at least one current business owner in the mall has stated the developer has not made contact with them at all. The mall is still currently open with numerous tenants remaining including Second Floor Games (moving to South Windsor), Integrity Martial Arts, Mediterranean Kebab House, Mozaic Cafe Pelley's Sports (moving elsewhere in Enfield), WuKong Tea, Target, GameStop, and New Life Church.
