EAST WINDSOR SCOOP: Former Walmart to be demo'd, Aldi to start construction, Hotcakes closes9/4/2025 A few smaller scoops we've compiled for the Town of East Windsor! Former Walmart to be Demo'd The former Walmart store at 69 Prospect Hill Road will soon be demolished! Prepartory work is now underway ahead of the planned demolition. Nothing has been proposed for the site yet, but clearing the site could make it more appealing to developers. The site has sat vacant since Walmart moved up the road to a new supercenter in 2013. Aldi construction to begin soon! Construction work on the new Aldi store is planned to begin soon! Aldi will be located at 151 Prospect Hill Road, the vacant land next to Cracker Barrel. The plan for the grocery store and a drive-thru restaurant was approved in April. Work will begin once a building permit is issued by the building department of the town; plans were submitted but no permit has been issued yet. The store is planned to open in 2026. Hotcakes closed, Ranch House to take over Hotcakes has closed their doors at 238 South Main Street and Original Ranch House will open in its place! Hotcakes operated for decades in that location under multiple owners. The Original Ranch House will open in the former Hotcakes once renovations are complete; Ranch House has other area locations in Windsor and East Hartford. They serve burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more.
