Lake Compounce has a new owner!
Herschend Family Entertainment is purchasing Palace Entertainment; the owner of Lake Compounce, Lake Compounce Campground, and 18 other parks/waterparks around the country. The sale is expected to close in the coming weeks or months. Herschend Family Entertainment is the owner of Dollywood, Pirates Voyage, Dolly's DIxie Stampede, and many others. Herschend is a family owned company. “This year, we’re celebrating 75 years of bringing families closer together—and looking ahead to the next 75,” said Andrew Wexler, CEO of Herschend. “Today’s announcement marks a natural expansion and continuation of that vision. By growing wisely and staying true to our purpose, we are building a future where we can continue creating memories worth repeating for generations to come.” There are no immediate plans for changes in day-to-day operations. Herschend will prioritize training employees for their 'people-first' culture, explore possible enhancements, and proactive communication with customers. Lake Compounce is the oldest continuously operating amusement park in the United States; it opened in 1846. The park spans over 300 acres including the amusement park, waterpark, and campground.
