By Jean-Luc Dube UPDATE: Mongers Market has permanently closed.
The indoor market was located at 1155 Railroad Avenue in Bridgeport, a former factory building. The market announced plans to permanently close last month. They reversed course, planning to reopen their doors after renovations, but have ultimately announced they are permanently closed. The owners said in a statement: "It comes with a heavy heart, after doing everything we could to find a path forward, we’ve made the difficult decision not to reopen Mongers Market. This space was built with blood, sweat, and grit, fueled by heart, and shaped by the incredible community of Mongers and customers who gave it life. We’re proud of what we created together—and grateful beyond words for the love and energy you brought through our doors and loading docks. This isn’t the ending we hoped for, but it’s one we meet with gratitude and deep appreciation. Thank you for being part of something unforgettable." The market was home to dozens of 'Mongers' featuring vintage, industrial, architectural, salvaged and reclaimed objects. Including furniture, clothing, doors, windows, lumber, galvanized objects,, lighting, etc. Over 75,000 square feet of selling space. The business model is fairly unique. The market originally opened in 2018, and is only open on Sunday from 10am-4pm. The market charges $3 per shopper for entry, children 12 and under are free.
