BASKETBALL SCOOP: New offer on Connecticut Sun would keep them in CT, move them to Hartford8/5/2025 A new twist in the potential sale of the Connecticut Sun.
A new competing offer has been submitted by former Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry according to Hartford Courant. The competing offer is $300 million; the offer would include keeping the team in Connecticut, moving them to Downtown Hartford. There have been conversations about playing at the newly renovated and renamed PeoplesBank Arena (former the XL Center), building new training facilities, and creating some improved housing at Constitution Plaza. The team has been owned by Mohegan Sun since 2002 when the Tribe bought the team out of Orlando for $10 million. A potential sale comes as popularity of WNBA teams hits new highs, with new expansion planned throughout the Country. Both offers are still subject to approval by WNBA and their Board of Governors. The Board recently released the statement: "Relocation decisions are made by the WNBA Board of Governors and not by individual teams."
