CT's WNBA team, the Connecticut Sun, will reportedly be sold and move out of Connecticut.
Details of the deal were reported on Saturday by the Boston Globe. The team would be sold to a Boston-based group for $325 million. The Boston group is being led by Celtrics minority owner Steve Pagliuca. Under the deal, the team will be relocated from Mohegan Sun to TD Garden in as early as 2027. The sale is still subject to approval by the WNBA. The team has been owned by Mohegan Sun since 2002 when the Tribe bought a team out of Orlando. The new owner would invest over $100 million in a new dedicated training facility for the team; something that it currently doesn't have. The deal comes as popularity of WNBA teams hits new highs, with new expansion planned throughout the Country. The sale is still subject to approval by the WNBA.
