Chipotle has set their opening date for their new Berlin location!
The new fast-casual Mexican grill will open their doors on Wednesday, October 8th! The new location will feature a dining room, patio, and Chipotlane; a mobile order drive thru pick-up window. The new Berlin location can be found at 1073 Farmington Avenue. The restaurant is a new-build; replacing a building once home to Mary's Pastry Shop and Edward Jones. Berlin guests can order this fast, easy, stress-free option to bring the customizable Chipotle experience to their homes. The new offering serves four to six people and guests can enjoy $10 off their first "Build-Your-Own Chipotle" order with code TRYBYOC* through October 21, 2025. Check them out on Wednesday!

Shchedryk has opened at 224 Berlin Turnpike!
Shchedryk is a specialty grocery store that offers a wide selection of Ukranian and Eastern European groceries, as well as handmade frozen food items from Multicook . The store opened for business this past Sunday (July 27th). Their hours are Monday-Saturday 9am-8pm and Sunday 9am-2pm. Check them out along with the other great businesses at The Shoppes at Turnpike Ridge! We always love a sweet scoop, and this one is literally just that!
"Sweet Social by Seed" opens tomorrow (July 23) at 3:00pm at Seed Central Coffee and Eats! Sweet Social will be offering ice cream from J Foster's Ice Cream, as well as floats from Avery's Soda and more! There will be a dedicated ice cream counter to order your cool treats. Don't forget to also try their breakfast and lunch specialties as well! You can find all the delicious options at 61 Chamberlain Highway in Ferndale Plaza! Berlin Kiosks LLC is opening a new storefront in the next few weeks, Berlin Kiosks Artisan Emporium and Gifts!
The new space will be located at 146 Mill Street, formerly home to Cutting Edge, which moved down the road to 945 Farmington Avenue. It will showcase local craft artisans and their creations in a brick-and-mortar format. The new store should be up and running by August. They are always looking for local vendors to partner with them. Berlin will soon have another option for a cool, sweet treat within an established eatery; this time in the Kensington side of town!
Seed Central Coffee and Eats (61 Chamberlain Highway) will be branching out in to the ice cream business with "Sweet Social by Seed"! They will be offering ice cream from J Foster's Ice Cream, as well as floats from Avery's Soda and more! There will be a dedicated ice cream counter to order your cool treats. The grand opening date has not yet been set, but we will give an update as soon as we know. This is the second ice cream spot within a restaurant this year. Joey B's Restaurant (83 Mill Street) launched their own ice cream division this spring! Cafe Busy Bean is NOW OPEN in their new location at 29 Steele Boulevard in Berlin! The cafe is part of the Steele Center development.
The cafe sells a variety of coffee, smoothie, espresso-drinks, teas, and other beverages; complimented by a wide selection of bagels, pastries, and much more. They are still tweaking their final menu, but stop by and try their delicious options! The new coffee shop space is beautiful! With a great color palate, warm lighting, and an upscale feel. The space is welcoming to all. The new patio is a great place to stop for a cup of coffee while enjoying this wonderful weather. Nick Erlacher of New Britain Flower Shop (141 Broad Street, New Britain) is expanding his successful business with a second location, Berlin Flower Shop at 120 Mill Street! Nick is a renowned floral designer, known for his "signature European inspired floral designs and customer service". He has provided arrangements for pageants, as well as, but not limited to weddings and funerals. He is affectionately known as "The Flashy Florist"! Berlin Flower Shop will have space for small events and offer statewide delivery. The official opening was announced on Great Day Connecticut, which will take place on May 8th at 5:30pm. The Family Dollar / Dollar Tree combo store in the Kensington section of town will be closing and reopen as a Dollar Tree Plus!
The store is located at 45 Chamberlain Highway, in Ferndale Plaza. They opened the combo concept store in March 2023, having two brands under one roof. A store closing sale starts today (4/14) with 30% off the entire store. The store will be remodeled into a Dollar Tree Plus concept and reopen shortly after. The duration of the sale depends on how fast stock depletes. Dollar Tree is parting ways with Family Dollar, which will be sold to private equity firms Brigade Capital Management and Macellum Capital Management for $1 billion. The sale will be finalized in June. Both brands will see several store closures, and Dollar Tree is planning more locations in the future. Previously, the Kensington location was home to longtime IGA affiliates Gnazzo's (still in Plainville) and Rogers Marketplace. Following those grocers, a short-lived independent store Ferndale Market Fresh occupied the space. Family Dollar had another standalone location for many years in Webster Square Shopping Center (now SIN Fitness) which closed in 2019. Dollar Tree opened a standalone location in Webster Square next to Ocean State Job Lot in 2017. Aroma Joe's Coffee has set the opening date for their new Berlin location!
The new coffee shop will open on Monday, April 14. They serve up several hot and cold drinks and food options in a fast paced, drive thru style format. Visit them on Monday at 458 Berlin Turnpike, next to the convenience store at Pit Stop gas station. There will be giveaways all week long as well as AJ's Rush energy drink offers. The franchisee is a local Wallingford resident who hopes to support the Berlin community in any way she can! It's official! Cafe Busy Bean Berlin (355 Main Street) will be moving to Steele Center in a newly constructed building at 29 Steele Boulevard.
The old location on Main Street will be closing in a few weeks and the new location will open by the end of April. They will be combining their coffee and baked goods with bagels! They will join forces with Fancy Bagels in Farmington to create "Busy N Fancy" (name tentative). They are hiring for overnight bakers. Call them at 860-315-0844 if interested! |
