Bob's Stores Footwear & Apparel will be closing all their stores. The retailer plans to close all of their remaining stores as part of their bankruptcy. Corporate confirmed the planned closure of their Bob's division in an email to The Connecticut Scoop. This planned closure includes CT stores in: -Ansonia -Middletown -Hamden -Manchester -Newington -Waterford -Simsbury -Waterbury -Milford The retailer will close all remaining Bob’s Stores this fall, with store closing sales underway at the majority of their locations. The retailer filed for bankruptcy protection in May after years of struggling under the previous ownership groups, Sports Direct and GoDigital Media. The retailer attempted an expansion in the previous two years, opening new locations in Manchester, Southington, Holyoke, and reopening their Hamden location that had previously closed. The chain closed their Southington location after just 9 months of operation. The chain had just started construction on their new flagship location in Norwalk and was well underway with the major renovation of their Manchester location into a Bob’s / EMS store. These projects now sit unfinished with the plans abandoned. The Connecticut Scoop talked to store managers at 4 different locations across Connecticut and all stores confirmed that Bob’s Stores will be liquidating their entire fleet of stores. GoDigital Media, the parent company of Bob’s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports, plans to keep EMS open while closing Bob’s Stores. Store closings sales have begun at all Bob's Stores and select EMS stores. According to documents filed in bankruptcy court, after closing some of their stores EMS plans to keep stores open in: -Danbury, CT -Hadley, MA -Burlington, VT -Lake Placid, NY -Peterborough, NH -Portland, ME -Burlington, MA -Bridgewater, NJ -West Lebanon, NH -Ithaca, NY -Saratoga Springs, NY -Portsmouth, NH -Warrington, PA -Canton, MA Reminder, Please be kind to the employees, it is not their fault that the stores are closing. We have received reports that gift cards are not being honored, it is not the employees decision. At the end of the day, they work for a company and do not make those decisions.
