Dippin' Dots & Doc Popcorn will officially open the doors of their new Cheshire location Saturday, July 13th! The new store is located on the Wolcott line.
The new 1,000 square foot restaurant is located at 2055 Meriden Road in Cheshire! This is franchisee Steve D'Amato's second location in Connecticut, he also own the location at Tanger Outlets, Foxwoods. Customers at the new location can enjoy their favorite dippin dot flavors like icee cherry, blue raspberry, rainbow ice, and frozeti dough, and many more. Doc Popcorn flavors will also include4 chessy cheddar, caramel bliss, sour cream & onion, and more. The new eatery sells Dippin Dots, a futuristic version of ice cream, and popcorn! A gourmet grocery store is in negotiations to join Fountain Square in Shelton!
A small grocery store is currently in lease negotiations to open a new 13,800 square foot store at 801 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton; the Fountain Square development. The leasing agent could not confirm the name of the grocery store chain; Trader Joe's was previously rumored to join the development under previous ownership. The grocery store, if the project moves forward, would be located in an undeveloped space behind Panera Bread. The land was planned to be home to a hotel; but is now earmarked for the grocery store and apartments. The development is now home to many restaurants and stores including Gogi, Fountain Square Wine and Liquor, European Wax Centers, Panera Bread, Metro Mattress, The Goddard School, Physican One Urgent Care, Stretchlab, Pokemoto. Jersey Mike's, MyEyeDr, Consumer Cellular, Sugar Llamas, Crumbl Cookies, Choice Pet, Sports Clips, Oasis Barber Shop, Chick Fil A, and Club Pilates. CAVA and Playa Bowls are coming soon. Tractor Supply will be constructing a new prototype store at Mallory Brook Plaza!
The farm and feed chain will build a new prototype store at the former Apple Cinemas space in the plaza at 380 New Hartford Road. The store's existing store in the plaza will close once the new store is ready to open. Demolition permits for the former cinema space are under review by the town's building department. The store is projected to open in 2025 according to their leasing flyer. The plans for the store were approved in April 2024 by Barkhamsted's Planning & Zoning Commission. The store planned to relocate to nearby Winsted, but canceled those plans after local opposition. The new store was planned to be built near Stop & Shop at 200 New Hartford Road. Those plans are now dead. Connecticut has a new vegan-ish restaurant! Veganish is NOW OPEN in Bridgeport!
The new vegan-ish restaurant is located at 881 Lafayette Boulevard in Bridgeport. They serve a variety of food including salads, sandwiches, breakfast and brunch options. a majority vegan menu. They also serve shrimp, tuna, salmon, eggs, and whiting as 'vegan-ish' proteins; adding these options to cater to all who come in! The restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. RH Outlet, owned by Restoration Hardware is NOW OPEN at 889 Post Road in Fairfield!
The new furniture outlet store for the luxury brand occupies around 50,000 square feet in the former Bob's Stores space at Fairfield Shopping Center. This is the chain's first outlet store in Connecticut, they also recently opened a new location at Patriot Place in Foxborough, Ma. The new cookie and ice cream shop is located at 8 South Main Street in Norwalk. The shop sells fresh baked creative cookies and cereal-infused ice cream! The grocery store will occupy just over 22,000 square feet next door to Old Navy at Connecticut Commons, 282 New Britain Ave in Plainville. The space was once home to AC Moore. The store will feature Aldi's typical offerings including meat, dairy, dry goods, and more. The store will receive an extensive renovation with a new storefront. The plaza was reconfigured years ago to make space for Amazon Fresh. Old Navy relocated from their previous location to the old Imperial Buffet space. The Amazon Fresh store was set to be around 40,000 square feet; but never came to fruition after the retailer slowed their expansion plans. Aldi will take over a portion of the space, with an addition 17,000 square feet still available. Construction is planned to begin in August, with a winter opening. Bank of America is bucking the trend of bank branch closures with a new Waterbury location!
Bank of America will open a new branch at 1030 Wolcott Street in Waterbury, the former Rite Aid Pharmacy. The bank will occupy nearly 6,000 square feet of the former retail store. The bank will completely renovate their portion of the old pharmacy including a new storefront. The bank will also feature a drive up atm and a drive up teller window. The bank branch is expected to open this winter. The remaining 5,000 +/- square feet will be available for lease once construction on the bank is complete. The former Al's Hot Dog Stand building in Naugatuck will soon be demolished to make way for a new gas station.
The longtime hot dog stand was located at 248 South Main Street in Naugatuck, CT for over 47 years. The stand closed in February for the redevelopment project, the hot dog stand announced they will reopen inside the new gas station. Neighbors recently received notice of the planned demolition. The new owner, ARKDYA LLC, plans to build a roughly 1,900 square foot store with a new space for Al's Hot Dog Stand inside the store. The gas station will have 4 fuel pumps with 8 fueling positions. Local Kitchen & Beer Bar has closed their doors permanently in Branford after 8 years of operation!
The restaurant was located at 850 West Main Street in Branford, opening in 2016 replacing Burrata Pizza. 75 Center is a restaurant and bar located at 75 Center Street in Southington, CT. The restaurant will close permanently at the end of business on Wednesday. The restaurant said in a statement: 'To our loyal and dear customers. Thank you for the years of memories, friendships, and celebrations along the way. Due to unfortunate circumstances we are going to be locking our doors Wednesday July 3rd for the last time.. The staff invites all of you to come down, have a drink, share some laughs, and as always have a great time! We will be doing a toast at midnight to send it off right! Thank you again and we cannot wait to see all of you ' The restaurant was the site of a violent brawl in March between rowdy customers and bouncers; leading to a stabbing. The restaurant closed temporarily and eventually reopened in April with new rules, including a weapons ban. Bob's Stores Footwear & Apparel will be closing all their stores. The retailer plans to close all of their remaining stores as part of their bankruptcy. Corporate confirmed the planned closure of their Bob's division in an email to The Connecticut Scoop. This planned closure includes CT stores in: -Ansonia -Middletown -Hamden -Manchester -Newington -Waterford -Simsbury -Waterbury -Milford The retailer will close all remaining Bob’s Stores this fall, with store closing sales underway at the majority of their locations. The retailer filed for bankruptcy protection in May after years of struggling under the previous ownership groups, Sports Direct and GoDigital Media. The retailer attempted an expansion in the previous two years, opening new locations in Manchester, Southington, Holyoke, and reopening their Hamden location that had previously closed. The chain closed their Southington location after just 9 months of operation. The chain had just started construction on their new flagship location in Norwalk and was well underway with the major renovation of their Manchester location into a Bob’s / EMS store. These projects now sit unfinished with the plans abandoned. The Connecticut Scoop talked to store managers at 4 different locations across Connecticut and all stores confirmed that Bob’s Stores will be liquidating their entire fleet of stores. GoDigital Media, the parent company of Bob’s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports, plans to keep EMS open while closing Bob’s Stores. Store closings sales have begun at all Bob's Stores and select EMS stores.
